Our church expansion and remodeling project has finally entered the year of construction. Here is an update on what has taken place and what is to happen soon.
Your parish Building Committee has been busy on your behalf. Anyone wanting to join this committee would be welcome at any time. Please contact Mike Schend on how to get involved at [email protected]
On a very positive note, the kitchen remodel goal of $125,000 is 92% complete with $115,254.00 raised to date. Please continue to donate as we are getting so close to fulfilling that goal.
Highlights to note:
1. The CASA House sale has been extended until February 15th and the sale will close at that time. The house is now demolished and the contractor that purchased it will begin the process to develop the property.
2. The design for the new stained-glass windows for the sanctuary are now finished. Please look at the sketches that are attached. The large middle window is 9.5 ‘x 9.5’ in the shape of a chalice. The stem of the chalice will be the Tabernacle. On either side of the large center window will be two 7.5’ x 3’ stained-glass windows with images of the Lamb of God and an angel in front of the empty tomb. All of these images are connected and celebrate the Risen Christ. The windows will be back lit allowing the windows to be illuminated day or night.
3. We have light fixtures to accent our current church fixtures. All of the fixtures will be upgraded to LED bulbs and wiring, which will increase light in the church.
4. The structural, civil and infiltration engineering are complete and our architect is finishing the final documents.
5. The proposed timeline is to provide a selected group of general contractors with documents by the first week of February for bidding on the project. It’s our hope that by mid- March we will have sealed bids to review. Once we have the actual costs, the parish will receive another report. The proposed timeline is to break ground after Easter. We recommend that you go to stmaryshr.org to view plans for the new church.
6. It is extremely important that you continue to financially support the construction project. One of the unknown factors is what problems inflation may cause for the overall project budget. A few years ago, a goal was set to raise $2,000,000. Currently we have 1,900,000, so please do not give up financially supporting our new church. Thank you for your support for these last eleven years. Your generosity has gotten us to this point, and keep it up! It has been seventy years since our church was built and this is our time to create our legacy for St. Mary’s Parish.
God Bless our project and our parish.
Dios bendiga nuestro proyecto y nuestra parroquia.
Our church expansion and remodeling project is on the scheduled course for startup. Here is an update on what has taken place the last couple of months.
Your parish Building Committee continues to meet on your behalf. Anyone wanting to join this committee would be welcome. Please contact Mike Schend at [email protected].On a very positive note, the kitchen remodel goal of $125,000 is $72% complete with $90,000 raised to date. Please continue to donate as we are getting so close to fulfilling that goal.
Highlights to note:
The largest parish project since 1952 is getting close to becoming a reality. Thank you all for your support and generosity. God Bless our project and our parish.
We have wonderful news to share with you about our parish building project!
We have been pursuing our goal of enlarging and remodeling our church since 2010. We can now tell you that that goal will become reality in the spring of 2023. We are just 15 months away from breaking ground.
Through many generous donations by our parishioners and the recent sale of the CASA House on the west side of our property, we have reached the goal for our construction budget. The CASA House had not been used for many years and was in major disrepair. Our parish is blessed with 10.7 acres and selling off that lot and house freed us of expenses to operate and heat it while providing revenue for our church building project. Selling the CASA House was not only a blessing in creating revenue for our building project, but the new owner has pledged to build as many as eight medium income housing units on the property.
Your building committee has been working with an architect and engineers to design a beautiful larger and updated church. In the lobby you will be able to view preliminary designs, but we encourage everyone to get on the parish website; stmaryshr.org where you can view the design in greater detail. The website has a three-minute, three-dimensional walk through experience. We also hired a church designer from California to create an amazing new sanctuary; the scale model is also in the lobby for you to view. With the creation of the new sanctuary, our church seating capacity will be increased from a maximum of 289 to 550. Some additional highlights are a new and enlarged lobby and choir loft, reconciliation rooms, a child care room, a new east entrance with men’s and women’s restrooms, an elevator to the basement, a large extension to the basement, a new sacristy, additional stained-glass windows, new altar and ambo, and many more.
Recently we have also decided to enlarge and remodel the kitchen in the basement. This project was not included in our original construction budget so we do need additional revenue to complete the kitchen. In the next 15 months, we need your financial support to complete the kitchen remodel. Please give whatever you can and use the building funds envelopes in the pews to make your donations. In the bulletin we are providing a list of sponsoring opportunities for items in the new church including the kitchen. If you like to sponsor an item such as a range, dishwasher, refrigerator, steam table, work stations, cabinets, pews, drinking fountain, etc., please let us know. In recognition of your sponsorship your name or family name will be placed on the wall of donors. Naming opportunities are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This will be our generation's legacy to the parish. Previous generations built this church, the Rectory and CCD building over 70 years ago. This is our time and you can make your own impact by donating if you have not had that opportunity yet.
On behalf of the St. Mary’s Building Committee we want to thank you for your support over these past eleven years. Thank you and God Bless our parish.

Imagine a remodeled church that meets the needs of our entire parish family. A church that comfortably seats everyone for masses, confirmations, communions, special services and events.
Ever since parishioners gathered for the first liturgy in 1880 at a small block house on the Mohr Ranch, St. Mary's Parish has been an evolving, vibrant center of liturgical celebrations and spiritual, educational and pastoral ministries. Now, 140 years later, we are grateful to God for our parish leaders, parishioners and friends who provided St. Mary's Parish with the facilities we utilize today."Celebrating Our Growth...Building Our Future" is a campaign to raise $1,000,000.
